What was meant to be the cure for my mid life crisis can now be yours! We’re selling our 2017 Riverside Retro, Jr. 509. As it goes, with two trailers and two grandkids, I’m just not able to use it as I’d hoped. With them going camping with us the majority of the time, the Retro sits in my garage the bulk of the time waiting for its turn. You can put a smile on its face as the new owner!

Longtime readers of The Small Trailer Enthusiast will recall this posting not long after we bought it. Please refer here for a more in depth look into it: http://smalltrailerenthusiast.com/2016/11/18/a-look-at-the-riverside-retro-jr/ There have been some updates since then, however. I’ve had a dealer installed axle lift put on it, which raised it some 3 1/2″ for much improved clearance over the original factory level, which is quite low and creates clearance problems with even minor slopes. The lift has really eliminated just about any problem you might encounter.

Another thing I’ve done (with my plumbing brother’s assistance) is to eliminate the gargantuan 17 gallon fresh water tank that was in the rear storage hatch, which you can see in the video that’s embedded in the post mentioned earlier. What we did was use a portable 7 gallon water tank that we did some fancy adapting with. Honestly, it’s a much better set up, if I do say so myself, that opens up a ton of new storage in the rear compartment. It enables you to still use the factory installed water pump for the sink. Details on what we did and how it works can be found here in this little walk through video:

We’ve got a few things to throw in it, such as a queen size electric blanket and a microwave for the rear kitchen, as well as a few other odds & ends. The dry weight is 1,023 lbs and it sits on a 1,500 lbs axle. It has a 10K BTU roof top A/C that works incredibly well, as you might guess. Back in July 2017, I was with it at a teardrop rally in southern Indiana where temps were in the mid 90’s. I closed it up, turned the AC on max, tossed a thermometer inside and when I came back from dinner a couple hours later, it was 58 degrees inside! So it’s more than capable of keeping you cool in the summer months. It also has solar prep, a sink/stove (propane) combo, and a dealer installed jockey wheel for easy maneuvering. Also inside is a 12 volt/USB charging port. It’s in excellent condition and has been garage kept since new. I think it’s only seen rain once.

Hi Carrie – There is a link within the post that will take you back to a previous post that contains pics and a video. However, this is a traditional teardrop and does not have a potty.
